Hello,

I'm trying to patch for the codmsgboom exploit Call of Duty version 1.4.

when I try to run the lpatch (http://aluigi.altervista.org/patches/codmsgfix.lpatch) that is referenced as the fix on http://aluigi.altervista.org/adv/codmsgboom-adv.txt

It completes sucessfully and saves a backup of game_mp_x86.dll

However, when I then run the codmsgboom.cfg file as a test it still crashes the server with a buffer overflow message.

The server is running no mods, I also tried to run the patch on any and all .dlls both in the /main folder and the folder with the .exe file so nothing was missed.

Can you please help ?

Thanks for any helpful info..

have you restarted the server?
can you try to repatch the same file for being sure the modification has been saved?

Hello,

Yes, I have restarted the server.

I know your patch was applied because it made a backup of the file. Also when I try to re-run the patch on the same file it will not let me saying something like "There are no bytes to add/fix"

I patched both of these files sucessfully but still have the same issue:
gamex86.dll in the root folder with the codmp.exe
game_mp_x86.dll in the \main folder

There's no other .dll files that I can patch. Like I mentioned, unfortunately when I try to run your codmsgboom test it still crashes the server :(

Any other info you can give on a fix ?

Thanks for any and all help..

yes, it was in the correct folders as the old files. thanks tho.

Hopefully the developer will have a solution to help, it is rather important to be blocked from this problem, because people use this exploit.

is possible that you have a pk3 with that file and so you must substituite the one there.
Try to zip the file and rename the zip as pakz.zip and naturally put it in the Main folder.
