When I use gslist like so: gslist -o 5 -q -n callofduty4

..all of the servers reported have a port of 6500. Usually I have seen various ports, the most common being 28930.... but more important is that they are usually different depending upon what the server admin has chosen.

And there is no service running on 6500 on any of these servers. The server is running on a different port. I'll keep looking into it, just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with this. It just started happening a few days ago. I happened to notice because some CoD4 scripts I run on an hourly basis were timing out, and when I went to investigate, these weird gslist results were what I found.

Not blaming it on gslist, just wondering if CoD4 has changed their protocol or something.

edit: HLSW works just fine, so I don't think it's a protocol change. Maybe a weird master server that gslist uses? Hmm...

the list received from the Gamespy master server contains that port as value.
anyway it's not a problem:
gslist -o 5 -q -n callofduty4 -X "\queryport"

Thanks! That will work. Though I wonder why there was a change all of a sudden.

do you mean that in the previous days it wasn't 6500?
indeed I remember that gamespy reported the real ports for the cod series before... very very strange.
anyway use the -X option as much as you can because it's terribly useful:
hostaddr, hostport, gamever, country, hostname, mapname, gametype, gamemode, numplayers, maxplayers and many other parameters.

for example the following is the -X query I use for the web browser part of gslist:
-X \hostname\mapname\gametype\gamemode\numplayers\maxplayers\gamever\password\sv_punkbuster\pb\hostport\ranked
and now adding \queryport would be useful

That is correct. The command "gslist -o 5 -q -n callofduty4" used to report the correct server ports, but now they all show 6500. This changed a few days ago according to my logs. I have used gslist in some of my scripts for a long time now, and it has worked great, but then gamespy made this change all of a sudden and it broke the script. I will just use X for now though :) thanks!

Looks like Gamespy has corrected the issue. GSLIST is reporting normal ports again for CoD4
