just a quick post to show in 5 minutes how to avoid the blue screen with error 0x0000007b if you try to install Windows XP or 2003 on new computers that use SATA (because these old OS don't have the needed driver).

1)
get nLite:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

2)
if you have an Intel chipset get the latest SATA drivers:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchR ... descending
pay attention only to the 32 or 64 bit tag depending by the OS you want to install (usually 32).

if you have a non-Intel chipset you CANNOT use the link I provided so find those good for you (nvidia or AMD).

3)
- run nLite
- select Drivers when you reach the "Task Selection" stage
- select Insert->Multiple drive folder
- select the folder where you unzipped f6flpy-x86.zip
- select the TextMode that should be already selected by default
- continue the creation of the image

it worked perfectly on my i7 2630qm with chipset showed as ID0104.

yeah, finally a notebook.
the older one was a jurassik ibook of the 2000, it's so slow that you can't even watch videos :)

ah just for the curious:
installing windows 2003 was an epic fail because don't exist graphic drivers for the intel+ati solution.

the surprise was that win2003 overwrote the boot record in c: so was necessary to set the "RECOVER" parition (F: in my case) as active (diskpart or via "computer manager") and then doing the full recovery because the minimal one doesn't fix the boot record (and this is a very good thing when you know it, damn vendors that don't write informations!)

notebook with i7, that must be worth a fortune. my laptop needs upgrade too (new one), its old, but at least i can watch videos on (only that i never do that).

why do you run 2003 on it :O ? XP is good enough. nLite it, take out shit and add SP3. in my case SP3 was necessary, because some applications started to complain about it.
at least you are not going for vista or gay7 eheh :)

it costed only 800 euros, so the price was excellent (17", 500gb hdd 7200rpm, ati6570, 4gb ram and other small things).

nLite is really a cool tool.
and Windows 7 is horrible, the first impact is being completely lost with stuff that can be no longer configured or is hidden in an unknown place that nobody mentally sane thinks to reach.
but there are no alternatives...
