Hello Luigi.

Some of us may be interested by a BFF decompiler/unpacker for NFS Shift files.
Here are links to a car model (7Zip), maybe can you have a look on it and tell us what you find in it (some DDS and a mesh file, for exemple):
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.001 3 907 Ko
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.002 3 907 Ko
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.003 3 907 Ko
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.004 3 907 Ko
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.005 3 907 Ko
http://aironeracing.ovh.org/NFSS_Scion_tC.7z.006 1 887 Ko
It may be really nice if you can have a look on it.

Thank you very much in advance.

Do you want me to post another BFF file from another directory of the game to compare?

Thank you very much!

Okay I extracted the Need for Speed Shift\Pakfiles\Vehicles\AUDI_R8_LMS.bff for testing purposes

All fine.

But there is another bff inside containing Audio Files (WAVS) but I have no Idea how to extract them your script isn't working on them

Heres the File:

Another Question: Is it possible to pack extracted files back to bff?

Shift wont read the extracted Files :(

Hi!

First of all congratulations and many thanks for your work, Luigi! :D

Well... would it be possible to decode .fev files? Those are very small files in which I believe there are engine sound blending configurations.
Here's one sample: http://rapidshare.com/files/316373737/b ... v.rar.html

Cheers! ;)

don't use rapidshare, it never works.
then the file is small so you can attach it here.

isn't fev something audio related?

Yes, it's audio related. Probably the engine mixing (at how many revs one sample gets in and so on...). If you simply open it up with Notepad it has several coded lines and some uncoded bits with names of sound samples.
Here's the file attached now. ;)

uhmm the file it's not an archive, maybe it has the function of "descriptor" for telling the program what file to load and with what feature.
so it's not stuff for me
