Which is preferred pc/laptop when all connected to router

probably this title makes mess, so Luigi change it if you think you know better one.

I guess this goes to SomaFM mostly. so what i like to know, how does router shares the connection ? because sometimes if somebody is using a torrent, it just sucks up all the bandwitdh and others get jack shit.

how does router exactly prefer pc/laptop ? obviously LAN is primary, but what if all are wireless. LAN is probably by ports, like 1 2 3 4 ..etc, but if all are wireless, then what ?

and also how can i make my laptop/pc the preferred one, so router would prefer my laptop/pc and allocate all the necessary bandwitdh to me.

it's an advanced feature that only some routers have.
maybe take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_shaping for a starting point about some info in general

pfsense has some good options for traffic shaping

i want to "shape" the traffic from client side. for example if me and my friend are connected to same router (we dont have access to it), then i want to "steal" all of his traffic, for example if i use torrent, i want to get all te bandwitdh.

buh im annoyed and i dont have need for it anymore + my PCI wireless card is playing retard on me, keeps disconnecting on its own in small intervals, or skips, while USB wireless works perfectly.

but thanks for the info and time, i may return to this topic when i start testing.
