Hello, I have been trying to figure out how to get the music from the recently released DC Universe Online.
I found the .fsb files, and I've gone through quite a few extractors. All of which do output either .wav or .mp3 files. Winamp and VLC do not play them, or are able to play only a few.

I looked at them in Audacity, it shows static.

This is all somewhat new to me. The most similar thing I have done is extracting from .cab files. Clear instructions would be nice.

Thank you.

use my fsbext tool (latest version is 0.2.11):

http://aluigi.org/papers.htm#fsbext

usually when winamp doesn't play a wav file is due to the codec used in it, for example imadpcm that as far as I know vlc plays otherwise try with mplayer.

if you have doubts try to upload the smaller of the wav extracted with fsbext on sendspace.com so that I can take a look

Downloaded fsbext, and chose a FSB file. It shows multiple wavs within the FSB, all of which are successfully extracted. None play. Tried Winamp, VLC and mplayer.
Here is a screenshot of the audio distortion as visualized by Audacity. It plays with static.

Here is an example wav extracted from the FSB.

Thanks for your patience.

the file starts correctly with 0xff so considering the its content is "sequential" (fsb don't have chunks, compressions or other things) it's for sure not a problem of fsbext.

so remains the problem of playing it.
what informations are showed by fsbext while it extracts the file?
I refer to the channels/type info.

maybe it could be a multichannel mp3 or something similar, anyway I can't do more than this because it's not my field.

so they are common stereo mp3 files, strange.
I suggest you to open a similar thread in the audio section of xentax (http://forum.xentax.com/viewforum.php?f=17) where there could be someone that can help you
