this was the method i used but failed:

Code:
Update for the TOR + Sockscap method, since this thread is linked in another thread too

Then with Tor there is no longer the need to find valid SOCKS servers, it's enough to:
- install the Tor/Vidalia Package http://www.torproject.org/download.html.en
- run sockscap, this tool is hard to find on the net so a ready to use copy is available on http://mirror.aluigi.org/misc/sockscap-2.40-051231.zip
- in the SOCKS settings place 127.0.0.1 and port 9050 as SOCKS server and select SOCKS Version 5 and "Resolve all names locally"
- launch Vidalia and start Tor from there
- go in SocksCap and add the program to socksify with the needed command arguments and Run it from there

ok, you can try removing the sockscap part and, instead, enabling the following cvars in JA:

seta net_socksEnabled "1"
seta net_socksServer "127.0.0.1"
seta net_socksPort "9050"
seta net_socksUsername ""
seta net_socksPassword ""

they add native support to socks proxies (hoping JA handles them).

Hello Luigi.

I know I'm bumping a two years topic but I am in the exact position as the topic creator. I did exactly what he did with the Tor and Sockcap but my IP remains unchanged. I'm not sure if I missunderstood the purpose of this but I was under the impression that I'd be using a proxy to avoid giving away my IP upon entering a game in Jedi Knight Academy. Everything works but I still have the same IP when launching from the sockcap application. I wrote in the commands you suggestes but still nothing...

Help would be most appreciated.
-Patrick.

the fact is that Tor is a TCP-only proxy while you need a proxy that supports UDP, so you will never able to change your IP using Tor

Thank you so much Luigi!

I bet it's hard to find a UDP proxy that can perform what I want. But I just have to ask:
Do you know any UDP proxies that might work with JK:JA without too much complications?

Cheers in advance.

eh no because the public proxies online are usually compromised machines where the attacker has placed the proxy or misconfigured systems so their life is short, that's why exist specific websites that take updates lists.

then the proxies with udp support are not much diffused

God I just really could need to be able to get into a server on JK:JA without having my IP cluttered on the logs. If there just was some sort of program that could do it :(...

no programs, you need a phisical server.
if was just the matter of the "program" (the proxy software) my proxymini was pefect but obviously you must have a machine where hosting it to take its IP
