Didn't have any problems, but I tend to not choose them.
As I read, some are getting problems that godaddy easily disable any domain for a complain
How the hell I hate with GoDaddy, is the checkout process, they always try to add crap on your bill
just check, http://nodaddy.com/, a community of haters of godaddy, but dont take their words too seriously
There are many others registrars that doesnt announce to super-bowl and got better services, just try some

i had same problem, they suspsended my domain and asked 75 dollars for release (for transferring). ofcourse it is only payment for release, to transfer i have to pay like another 75 dollars for the new registrant and guess where they give most of that money ? they use that payment to buy that domain from godaddy. so in other words they are scamming ppl.

Why scamming ? because they never told me the REASON. i asked like 10 times and they kept redirecting me to the agreement. I FUCKING READ IT OK !? i want to know which part of my site and/or domain violated what, but those idiots can't say anything smart. 10 mails and all got same reply, which was ... "spamming and abuse" + link to agreement. yes sure my site had mind on its own and spammed somebody..
its just ridiculous

sethioz I already explained why in my opinion they disabled your domain, and if that's the reason I agree with them because it's the first rule of the internet domains.

anyway is usually better to avoid to choose domain hosters which don't really give you the domain and that in any moment they can decide to block it with or without reasons.
I already talked about the shameful thing happened to Tntvillage by DynDNS on this forum, and that's the best example of things about I refer.

obviously it's also good to avoid those companies located in particular countries like USA (first of all for the anti-this and anti-that dmca ambarabaciccicocco' laws), Italy and so on.

no no no Luigi, it was NOT the reason. my info was not 100% accurate and they sent me an email (it was about week after registrering), then i corrected it and put a VALID address (post office) and reported back to them and said that info has been corrected, they checked it and said it is fine. so it is not the issue, they confirmed it.

and can't they be more specific about "spamming and abuse"?
because the "abuse" reason means nothing.

trust me Luigi. i really tried to get a reason out of them, but they answer like a damn brain-dead zombies, its coming like from a recorder.
always the same answer... "Abuse and Spamming"
They said that my domain violated somehow this part:

Quote:
Domain Name Registration Agreement:

Go Daddy may also cancel the registration of a domain name, after thirty
(30) days, if that name is being used in association with spam or
morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will
include, but not be limited to: activities designed to defame,
embarrass, harm, abuse, threaten, slander or harass third parties;
activities prohibited by the laws of the United States and/or foreign
territories in which You conduct business; activities designed to
encourage unlawful behavior by others, such as hate crimes, terrorism
and child pornography; activities that are tortuous, vulgar, obscene,
invasive of the privacy of a third party, racially, ethnically, or
otherwise objectionable; activities designed to impersonate the identity
of a third party; and activities designed to harm minors in any way.

HAHA now this is the lamest thing i've ever seen yet. they suspend your domain only if your site has a vulnerability active...now this is just too retarded.
So in other words...EVERYBODY who host their domain and/or site in godaddy.com have to be computer EXPERTS and not only that, but they have to be professional programmers and build every inch of their site, because otherwise they may violate some rules and have an vulnerability open on their site and get suspended.

..I wonder what will happen if I'll find such vulnerability on godaddy.com and use it to abuse/attack their domain :) will they suspend their own domain too ?!

I forgot to add that in the case of freeforums it was the (enough) good thing to act for 2 reasons:
- the order came from the organization which manages the ORG domains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Interest_Registry), although imho the "power" they have had looks a bit exagerated
- freeforums acted like a menace spreading malware

never the less, it was an vulnerability on site and owners of freeforums just missed it. I don't think that it is reason enought to suspend domain without any warning.

I first created this Joomla site on my local machine using WAMP5. But now I am having a few issues after I created this same site on GoDaddy using IIS7. Any help will be much appreciated. Here are the issues I am having:

1. When opening a PDF file from a link on my site I receive this error: 500 - Internal server error.

2. Parameters in the Menu items do not disable or hide when I set them to do so.

3. The slideshow module I have set in user1 position is set to only be visible in the mainmenu / home section, but it show up in my download and tutorial sections.

4. The tabs on my site are suppose change color from blue to white when click on, but in IIS7 they do not. Only the first tab stays white.

Thanks for your time and any suggestions provided

this is not a problem with godaddy, it is problem of your site and browser.
if you are not complete idiot, you would change godaddy right now. read carefully what i have posted. they can disable your site just for having a wrong word, yes without any warning and then start charging your credit card.

NOTE, it might be godaddy limiting usage of some certain code and/or file types. you'd have to send exact problem into their support and ask.

but i say that you should change your hosting right away and pick something inside europe, in some country that has very low internet laws, like sweden maybe.

Problems with Go Daddy Hosting
When you call Go Daddy for customer service (it's not toll-free), it takes at least 20 minutes for the reps to solve the simplest problems. They gave me incorrect information, messed up my account and told me that I have to pay more money for them to fix the problem that they caused. I wrote a letter to their president and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I haven't heard from the president yet but I am done with the company no matter what. because when only one person complains, the host companies don't care and just blow us off. But if we start holding them accountable for unmet promises, they will start to give more consideration to good customer service. I'm not sure what company I'm going to next but I will cancel with Go Daddy in a few days. If they have any decency they'll give me a full refund. I hope you're having better hosting luck than me :-)

seems that requesting money is a common point in all the complains versus this company, now I understand how they get rich :)

this is also a common problem of these companies that handle the dns stuff, indeed if you search on internet you can read about a lot of horrible things done by both the domains handlers (godaddy, enom, and so on) and their useless intermediaries (you -> intermediary -> domain handler).

the only thing I can say about domain names is that gandi guarantees that the domain you buy is really owned by you and so things like the story told by sethioz should never happen.
that's all I know about this matter.

USA maybe big and powerful country, but what its NOT, is internet country.
everything and anything done with internet in US sucks big time and i mean really big time.
their security is a joke, their laws about internet are very strict (even SMALL violation can have very serious consequences), their overall internet speed/cost ratio is very bad (high costs for shit speed, like where i live, i could get 100mbit down/up for about 50 eurs per month, but in USA you get about 50mbit down and 5mbit up for that money or maybe even double the price) + they have tons and tons of laws that strict you from using it and they monitor you very strictly to see if you go over the lines.

so this is why godaddy sucks so badly. but scamming ppl is really very stupid, i hope on one day they trip over a very wrong person and they get sued and lose and godaddy president goes to jail for that scam and their business will be shut down, because this is just outrageous what they doing.
i keep hearing more and more of storys how they try to scam more money out of ppl.

i never called them, but when i had some issues with php.ini settings, i mailed them and instead of fixing problems, they kept causing them and kept treating me like a total idiot. referring me to common dumb problems, which i TOLD THEM are not the problems.

and once again .. i point out the part where they trying to charge my credit card and disabled/deleted my account so i can't cancel it. ...and then ppl keep telling me im too paranoid, as you can see its better to be paranoid than lose lots of money :)

another small update, the following is taken from "demonoid.me" main page (news)

Quote:
Torrent Finder Domain Seizure
From their site: On Thursday, the 25th of November 2010, the Torrent Finder domain ( www.torrent-finder.com ), registered with Godaddy, was seized by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) without any prior takedown notice or specific allegations of infringing activity. The Domain IP was suddenly changed without the registrar's knowledge and the system displayed a "Pending Registry Action" message on the domain's status. No contact was given until Wednesday, the 1st of December, when Godaddy replied to my inquiries, giving a contact for an ICE agent. On Thursday, the 2nd of December, David Snead who is representing Torrent Finder contacted the ICE agent in charge who told him that "the orders are under seal, but that the seal will be lifted today or tomorrow". However, we have not heard from them until writing this post. Another email from Godaddy clarified that the action was taken by VeriSign: "please understand that these actions were taken by Verisign at the Registry level; and not by Go Daddy". The story was first reported on TorrentFreak and NYTimes.com.

my comments are simple, they dont give any actual reason, because there isnt. or well there is "they scam ppl"
here's how it works:

1. they take your money for whatever you pay
2. they give you what you ordered
3. they disable your account
4. they keep the money and never give you reason

they just keep pulling your chain with those lies and bullshit, if its some other "blabla X" party, then how comes it ONLY happens on gofaggy ? ive never seen or heard it happening in any other hosting. im sure there are, but they are scamming too.
