you don't need complex solutions like that.
you can figure the file format of this archive or use a generic ripper tool or use the following script fo my QuickBMS tool:
The output from your script:
Code:
- SCRIPT's MESSAGE:
  FSB version 138 not supported

- 0 files found in 5 seconds
At least mine can count how many there are.

Now it makes a "00000000.fsb" which is 254 MB and then it makes 37 files which all together are 5.1 MB then it crashes on the 39th file. I think something's screwed up ... or is that normal ??

it's simply that an archive must be handled by its file format and not just scanning for files like a ripper.
so the script is doing exactly its job but the archive contains too much false positives and so it's uselss to continue.
a ripper tool contains for sure more cross checks to avoid many of these false positives so you could have more luck.

but in any case the best solution would remain to parse the file format

If you read above, bowtie was able to extract FSBs using a hex editor. The point of my script was to duplicate the exact same steps he followed but to automate and loop them for every instance in the archive. My script comes up with about the right number of files which seem to be at about the right sizes, and when the files my script produces are put into fsbext and you press "?", you can even see the password! But for some reason fsbext won't extract so I think there's something different between the results of my script and the instructions bowtie gave, though I'm not sure what.

What would "parsing the file format" mean? I know what a file format is and I know that parsing is basically breaking down a string into different parts but I don't know what parsing to figure out an unknown file format would involve.

"parsing the file format" is the way of figuring all the fields of an archive (the classical game archives) so that is possible to extract all the files contained in it.

just the usual job I do with my quickbms when I post the scripts on xentax:
- figure the format
- write the bms script
- extract

Oh well I have some idea how to do scripting but how do we figure the file format?

Dangit I know people have been getting audio out of there I just don't know how.

Looks like other people are also trying.

BTW, for anyone who was having trouble running my Python script: In case you didn't know or figure it out, I was using Python 2. Python 3 breaks backwards compatibility and most of the Python helping documentation is still for Python 2 so that's what I use for now.

Awesome. Solved it, at least for one track. Now if only we could automate this to just grab all the tracks.
Code:
REM How to get "Daft Punk - Human After All" out of DJ Hero 2

REM The FSB file can be found inside DISC0.IMG.part0 within the DJ Hero 2 XBox 360 disc image at offset 41960000 hexidecimal. It ends just before a big block of zeroes. "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00"

REM That FSB file can be opened with fsbext using password nos71RiT

REM fsbext will output a file called tmp338.tmp.xma

REM In tmp338.tmp.xma, the "d" in "data" occurs at offset 534. Adding 8h to that gives us 53c. Adding 800h to that gives us d3c. Adding 800h to that gives us 153c.

REM The result of running this batch file (assuming you have xma_text and towav) is perfect and totally skip-free!!

xma_test.exe tmp338.tmp.xma -o 53c -r track-1.bin
xma_test.exe tmp338.tmp.xma -o d3c -r track-2.bin
xma_test.exe tmp338.tmp.xma -o 153c -r track-3.bin

copy /b xma-header.bin+%track-1.bin track-1.xma
copy /b xma-header.bin+%track-2.bin track-2.xma
copy /b xma-header.bin+%track-3.bin track-3.xma

convall
rem convall just means @towav.exe *.*

I'm working on an offset list. This web site is useful: http://www.csgnetwork.com/hexaddsubcalc.html

Everything's in hex inside DISC0.IMG.part0

Search for:
14 3C 8C C0 0C 4A 96 2A
to
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

The second offset is not included. For the ones I've finished converting, I've added a description of what I recognize about the track because they don't come with names so matching each file with the song it contains is a bit of a chore.

001. 0B100000 to 0BC43E40 is "break it down and dance"

Oh, I'm terribly sorry Nerd42. I kept setting this aside. I'll be posting the batch file I created with all the xma_parse offsets, and a list of all the FSB offsets in DISC0.IMG. It'll probably only work for the XBOX360 version.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XMG28U02

In the ZIP file, you will find the following...

fsbext.exe
towav.exe
xma_test.exe
process.bat-----will process the encrypted FSB files. you will end up with each individual tracks [red/blue/green]
fsb-offsets.txt-----contains the start/end offsets of all 106 encrypted FSB files found in DISC0.IMG
parse.txt-------contains the XMA offsets for the multi-channel XMA files
rename.txt------called by process.bat in order to rename the multi-channel XMA files
xma.hdr-------xma header

After using the offsets in fsb-offsets.txt to extract all the FSB files [assuming you named your files 001.fsb through 106.fsb], you can run process.bat to automatically decrypt the FSB, rename the resultant multi-channel XMAs, parse the individual 2-channel XMAs, apply the 2-channel XMA header, and finally convert the 2-channel XMAs to WAV. The 2-channel XMAs will use ~900MB of disk space, and the final WAVs will use ~10GB of disk space. So keep this in mind before starting the batch file.

Edit: If you have a problem with any of the files, let me know and I'll do my best to help you out

Edit #2: Sorry, I didn't realize I double posted.

awesome thanks man :)

now if only we could figure out how to automate getting the 106 files out, that would be nice

(later edit) Uh-oh. Megaupload says the file is unavailable on my end. Could you try another file host?

I completed a batch file to extract the 106 FSB files. I'll post it here once I've tested it.

There it is. All you have to do is run process.bat. The end result is ~10GB of WAV files. They can be joined with sox or traverso, but I'll leave that for you to decide.

I've been following this thread for quite awhile now. Remarkable job on everyone's part.

I have been trying to extract the fsb files with bowtie's current method, but for whatever reason it will not work for me. I run the process.bat and it seems to extract the FSB files for a moment (And I actually see the FSB files extracted in my directory), then I see on fsbext something along the lines of "Error: Your password seems wrong". Next thing I know the FSB files are gone. I'm not sure how to remedy this, but if anyone has any pointers, it will be greatly appreciated. I am nowhere near as tech saavy as you guys are, but I'll try my best to follow along.

My batch file will only work on DJ Hero 2 for the XBOX360. If you have the Wii or PS3 game, it will fail the extraction because the file offsets won't correspond to the files in DISC0.IMG, and any subsequent command contained in the batch file will not work.
Basically, the batch file has all the offsets that work for the XBOX360 game and only for that game/console.

I got it to work. Thanks, bowtie. I realized I did not combine the part0 and part1 img of DJHero2 together. that's what was stopping me. Thanks again!

Yeah, you have to type "copy DISC0.IMG.part0 /b + DISC0.IMG.part1 /b DISC0.IMG /b" to make it work.

WAV Files 83-89 are "transition" pieces for those mix lists/ megamixes (I.E. David Guetta/Deadmau5/Tiesto song lists). I have yet to mix those files with their appropriate songs, but I'll get around to them eventually.

WAV File 90 - Pure Silence

WAV File 91-106 are used for the tutorial section of the game.

Hope that helps for anyone else mixing!

Yeah, you have to type "copy DISC0.IMG.part0 /b + DISC0.IMG.part1 /b DISC0.IMG /b" to make it work.

You used too much "/b". The correct command is "copy /b part1.ext+part2.ext+part3.ext+... endfile.ext".

And thank you for the track identification grubly.
BTW, did you mix the tracks to stereo or surround sound? I was just wondering because I will be mixing them to stereo.

I mixed them to stereo using Audacity. For some reason traverso did not work for me.

My command works ... it has that going for it. :)

Are you saying just to leave off the last /b or what are you saying? Don't we want to be sure the copy command both reads AND writes in binary mode?

Ummmmm. I think this question may be somewhat at cross purposes with my reasons for wanting to hack the game. I want the separate tracks to make further derivative remixes and mashups from. The Daft Punk fanclub has been particularly excited to get isolated vocals for "Human After All" which nobody in the community had before. So for me, it's not really to listen to; I'm not mixing these multiple files down to anything further. I'm converting each set of three separate wav files to separate FLAC files so they take up less hard disc space but other than that, they're staying as separate tracks unless and until I want to cut them up to do in real life what this plastic toy lets people pretend they're doing: making real DJ mixes.

Well, I guess you can disregard my comment. I read through the syntax for copy.exe and it seems it can be used both ways.
Using "copy /b" will treat all files as binary.
Adding "/b" after each file will treat only that file as binary.
