Hellow

I've found the research done on gamespy servers etc.
I think its very interesting and wonder how I could make use of this too make it work for lord of the rings Battle for Middle Earth.

Found info on "gs login server" it seem too work for battlefield2.

What I found is that BFME seem too link too servserv.generals.ea.com
http://servserv.generals.ea.com/servser ... nglish.txt
http://servserv.generals.ea.com/servser ... config.txt

On there is a config.txt file which link to pingservers, manglers(quickmatch servers?).

That seem to be EA stuff but I'm more curious about the gamespy part. So anyone can login + chat.

I've seen this Red alert 3 server emulator made by teknogods.
They seem to managed to make it work.

I'm sure that if this works for BFME it works for c&c generals & zero hour also. That's a big community.

My knowledge on the scripting bit lacks on this topic.
What do I need to change in the gs_login_server too make a irc server run that works for bfme?

my peerchat_server tool allows the converting of any normal irc server in a Gamespy peerchat server:
http://aluigi.org/papers.htm#peerchat_server

about gs_login_server it doesn't support much options because they are tools that must work in general and not game-specific:
Code:
-p PASS   set the login password (pass)
-n NICK   set the default nickname in case of problems (nick)
-v        verbose output
-f FILE   file in which is contained the list of usernames and pids to assign
the format is enough flexible so is possible to specify the username
and the pid on the same line (separated by a space) or on two lines
is also possible to delimit the username within " or ' if desired
-F        use this option if the clients freeze

Right ok totally respect your work. You seem to be doing this for a long time now.
I'm sry for the trouble you had with gamespy so I understand if your cautious.
What if you get some donation. Would that make it go game specific ;-)

eh no, I don't accept donations :)

I provide the main research, so if someone wants customizations then he must do them by himself.

anyway there are no cautions, I have never limited my research after that story with gamespy :)

Alright Luigi. I wanna thank you for the research you've done. Take care and good luck with future findings.

My regards
