hi,
i wanted to replace the transmisson and engine sounds with some of my own recordings, but i have at least 4 problems.
1. do the files need the exact same codec, mode, and frequency.
if so: how can i change the frequency to stuff like 44484 Hz?
even Goldwave doesnt have that for selection.
2. every 2nd file is crypted(either all tw_on***.wav-files or all tw_off***.wav-files) with the standart nfsss2-password.
how can i build the new fsb file and tell fsbext to crypt some ans some not?
3. do the soundfile have to have the excact same length?
4.for some the engine fsb there is fev-file.
i havnt found any for the transmission-sounds and i don't think there are any.
but do i need to change to cahnge the fev-file for the engine sound? how?

and btw i have a little advice for fsbext.
could you pls add an "x" in the table where all extracted files are listed behind every file, that was crypted?
So i don't have to use a old version of fsbext in order to find which of them are cryped.

files: download

thanks for all your effort ;)

1) I guess the codec must be exactly the same of the original, while for the frequency the only thing that could change is the speed during the play

2) you can't with fsbext -r, I don't know if the official FSB builder allows a similar selection

3) fsbext -r is a rebuilder so it automatically adapt all the main fields but remember that it's experimental

4) don't know

do you mean adding an option that only displays an information if the file is encrypted?
for example from the following:
Code:
Filename                         Size       Mode frequency channels bits
========================================================================
TestBassDrum_BIGLoop.wav         907236     mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestBass_BIGLoop.wav             907236     mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestRecorder_BIGLoop.wav         907236     mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
to this one:
Code:
Filename                         Size       Mode frequency channels bits
========================================================================
TestBassDrum_BIGLoop.wav         907236     crypt,mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestBass_BIGLoop.wav             907236     crypt,mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestRecorder_BIGLoop.wav         907236     crypt,mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
is this what you mean?

hi,
thx for the reply.

if TestBassDrum_BIGLoop.wav & TestRecorder_BIGLoop.wav are crypted and TestBass_BIGLoop.wav is not uncrypted
Code:
Filename                         Size       Mode frequency channels bits
========================================================================
TestBassDrum_BIGLoop.wav         907236     crypt,mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestBass_BIGLoop.wav             907236        mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16
TestRecorder_BIGLoop.wav         907236     crypt,mono,effects,ima_adpcm 44100 1 16

that situation is impossible because the FSB archives can't have only some files encrypted.
the encryption takes the whole file included its headers, that why there is no FSBx signature in the encrypted files.

so, in my opinion, a similar option doesn't have much sense moreover because fsbext writes when an archive is encrypted and it has activated the decryption

strange i extracted the gt_race1.fsb with an older version of fsbext and all off_**** files where ok while all on_**** where crap.
which sound editing software can save the file with the correct codec? goldwave?

depends by the codec used (I don't have the game and I don't know goldwave).

usually only xma, vag and maybe wma can be problematic.
for xma you can use the xma tools available in the xbox sdk

doesnt work.
game plays only bullshit.
i cant save as ima_adpcm 16bit without header.
no sound editor is supporting it.
goldwave can only save as ima_adpcm 4bit with header.
its just not possible. shift2-developers suck so hard.......
