Hi aLuigi I was wondering if you could make a lpatcher for me in regards to this: http://aluigi.org/patches/ut3sticlefix.lpatch

I need one for Homefront which is on the UT3 engine. I believe it has the same bug as UT3 with the memory allocation.

In your notes you have: "This patch has been created only for the latest known patches of the games
which are vulnerable for Windows, older versions will be NOT supported by
me so don't ask."

but, I don't know how to offset this with the lpatcher. If you have the code so I can put it in lpatcher would be more than appreciated.

Thanks. :)

cool to know that a game released a couple of months ago is vulnerable to a security vulnerability public from the 2008 :)

luckily the patch is really very simple so it took me just some minutes to cover also this game, version 0.2:
http://aluigi.org/patches/ut3sticlefix.lpatch

obviously test your server to know if you are still vulnerable

Hmm... I just used the lpatcher and it said "no bytes to change", but the wierd thing is if the server fills up the server will not crash, but everyone will get disconnected or time out which tells me its a memory leak problem. It does this whether or not the server is full at 32 slots or just 22 slots. Strange...

Thanks for your time on this one aLuigi. Got any other ideas on what this could be?

upload the server executable on sendspace and I will check it.

anyway from your words is not clear if this is the ut3sticle bug or not

Don't know what this sendspace is, but hopefully you don't mind getting it from here:

I see no problem, I have patched HFDedicated.exe perfectly using that patch

I have no problems patching HFDedicated.exe perfectly, but my point is that if it says "no bytes changed" and I am still getting the memory leak problem on the server then I wonder what else it could be?

if you get the "no bytes changed" message it's not patched "perfectly", it's not patched at all.

here the file you provided was patched perfectly and indeed was changed the byte at offset 0x0071E04D (0x75 to 0xeb).
and being the file the same you have there you can't receive that failure message.
