alright, well i'm trying to test one of my 'patches' against q3fill again, since u seem to have ruined my cl_punkbuster one lol... i downloaded the last version of q3fill before i did this.

Code:
C:\>q3engine\q3fill\q3fill -g -c -1 x.x.x.x x

Quake 3 engine fake players DoS 0.4.3
by Luigi Auriemma
(saving space)

- target   x.x.x.x : x
- retrieve informations
............the info list, blah blah (saving space)

- parameters in use:
  compression   off
  protocol      15
  punkbuster    off
  password      off
  key/guid      random

- Fake players:

     Player: .. "Td7jmnnNVKtHAQc73fCuapAYFNJGx" ..
Error: Server uses protocol version 15.
This error means you must enable compression (do not use the -c flag)

so i'm getting these

so i enable it, then i disable it... and it's just not working

try to remove -g and you should no longer receive that error (typical when testing JA/JK2 servers)

technically, yes, u are correct.
but, either way it seems to block out fake players so it just makes it easier for me... so uh, nevermind lol

except if who wants to attack you will forge a 100% JA/JK2 compatible connect string in which case you can't recognize it.

well, they would have to take out cl_guid first... and since if u use -g u cannot connect due to the "Error: Server uses protocol version 15." msg
i assume that because -m says "add" and not "replace"...

also, not necessarily because most q3fill users don't have any idea how it works they just type in the ip and port... and most people don't know what the userinfo contains exactly, double whammy! i mean, don't u agree? how can anyone actually remember the whole userinfo :P... so yeah 100% connect string :P
\ip\x.x.x.x:x\challenge\1312506785\qport\29535\protocol\15\cl_guid\D3D9D99771ACFCDD1C9D18FA44A2FEF4\cl_anonymous\0\snaps\10\rate\1500\name\oJSZ\model\none
compared to:
\ip\x.x.x.x:x\challenge\1761040089\qport\16017\protocol\15\cg_predictItems\1\cl_anonymous\0\sex\male\handicap\100\color2\5\color1\3\forcepowers\200-1-333333000330003333\team_model\gran/default\model\gran/default\snaps\20\rate\25000\name\~^jJe^jdi^jDo^jg~\teamtask\0 (and it continues but the userinfo is too big for it i guess)

i assume anyone who really wants to know could look at the code, but most people wont know what they're looking at or what to look for

and besides, if anyone does do it to '100% JA/JK2 compatible connect string' , i could do what all the other silly mods do, see if its the same ip and then kick or deny access... speaking of that, is there a way to hide your ip from mods with q3fill? like 'proxy' fake players?... lie about your ip perhaps?

yes, the max connections per ip limit remains the best and only real solution

the q3unban technique works both if you are banned or not since the \ip\ field is not added in any case
