Due to some problems I have had running these two old cool games on Windows XP with a Nvidia 8600GT I have decided to post the following quick step-by-step.
Pre-requisites for Glide emulation:
- download the latest version of dgVoodoo
http://dege.freeweb.hu- copy the files in c:\windows
- run dgVoodooSetup.exe and configure it
Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit:
- install the game
- install the patch:
ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/patches/nfs3/npspatchnfs3.exe- apply my fix:
http://aluigi.org/patches/needforspeediii.zip- overwrite voodoo2a.dll with the one in the attached nfsvodoo.zip file
- run the attached NFS3_3dfx.reg file
Need for Speed 4: High Stakes
- install the game
- install the patch:
http://nfscars.netcoders.net/storage/ga ... ch4_50.exe- apply my fix:
http://aluigi.org/patches/nfshs-4.50.zip- overwrite voodoo2a.dll with the one in the attached nfsvodoo.zip file
- run the attached NFS4_3dfx.reg file
note: the voodoo3/glide3x solution didn't work, that's why I have opted for the glide2x one which works perfectly!
