 Post subject: Battlefield 1942 fake players not functioning!

I recently applied a patch to my fellow friends' server in the Demons of Darkness clan (http://dod-clan.us), which would result in a DOS exploit I personally found myself for illegal usage, with the player joining algorithm.

However, this patch also seems to be making the server immune to this fake players exploit. Could I be using the tool wrong, or is it really immune?

bf1942 fills the slots of the server using the join packet containing the type of packet (the first one or three bytes, depending by bf1942 and bf1942sw), the retail number (0x1002), the game version and the password.

The game version is the only parameter which is server dependent, in short the tool sets the same version specified by the server although includes a scanning function which increments the version everytime it receives a "wrong version" packet.
So in this blind hypotesis is possible that with your patch you have changed the visible version number and so the tool doesn't use the one which a client uses or something similar.

Do you have the first join packet sent from a common client to your patched server?
with that packet you can see the differences.
Or what type of error you receive from bf1942fp?
If you receive something like "Alert: wrong reply from the server 26 1000 00001002 000003e8" it's a problem of the tool I'm going to fix, just specify the correct server port and it works.

Should it be compatible with BF1942 dedicated server 1.61b? Because it doesn't work on an unpatched server either. I just checked.

Sure that it works versus 1.61b too, it's just the main version I tested.
Anyway "doesn't work" is a bit generic: what error you receive? what messages? why do you think doesn't work?

hmm ... If you know lil bit more about pc stuff..you could just try that with some packet editor by simply recording a ''join'' packet like 10-20 times and then resend those packets...

Well, I run the program with the following parameters:

bf1942fp 64.22.78.64 23000

It works, and it even joins the players, and says it's full sometimes as well. But when I then find the server in my favorites list, it hasn't even filled out 1 slot. Are you sure you tested it for the latest 1.61b, and not just 1.61.19? There's a difference, you know.

The program should automatically find the server version, and send the appropriate join packets. The players are invisible so they do not show up in the player count, but the server will be full when you try to join.

If the program reports that players are joining, and when it's full, then it's working as it should.

Doomer, as written in the title of the tool and said by SomaFM it's an "invisible fake players tool".
So it's normal that you see the server empty from outside but when you try to join it you have the surprise since in reality it's completely full and no longer accessible.
