I'm attempting to use ventrcon to setup user accounts, and everything appears to be working up until the admin password, which I have for this server. ventrcon always reports a bad admin password. Our server is set up to require registered users, and I have created a registered user with admin/add user privileges. I am using -n and -w to get the user logged in, after which I am told that I need the admin password before anything else. Whether I put the password on the command line or type it manually, I get a wrong admin password error.

I need to get this resolved soonest, or find another tool that can do the job if anyone is aware of one !!!

the current version of ventrcon doesn't have the possibility to create admins for security reasons (in case of errors in the inserting of the data from the user).
but, well, if it's useful I can enable it releasing a new version tomorrow

uhmm, re-reading your post I don't understand if the problem instead is just in the accessing to the server (-a admin_password), can you explain it better?

I dont need the users to have any privileges -- just need to create them -- we are trying to secure a server that is plagued by spammers and we would like to do it by having them set up an account in vent after they logon to the website.. at the moment we are doing this manually but we have a LOT of users... just need to get an account set up so they can logon as registered with a password.

mah I don't understand why there is this problem of logging on the server because ventrcon works perfectly on any version included 3.x (just retested now with my 3.0.3 test server).
what's the exact error reported by ventrcon?
can you launch it with the -v option and pasting here on in pm the last packets sent by the server?

maybe try adding the -L option which forces the "Show login name in remote status requests" mode although useless because it's done automatically by ventrcon.
