Hello,

I've done a lot of searching and looking around on the forums first trying to solve this problem myself, but I think its best to ask some of you now. :-p

I've downloaded and tried to tinker with some programs, but no luck. What would be the best way to run a command-line program (one of aluigi's) through a proxy server? I tried sockscap, but after it tried to run the program (IP was present), it appeared to just close after 5 seconds or so.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

the way you used is correct, since all the parameters of the tool must be inserted in the "Command Line" field of the "Application Profile" in Sockscap.

BUT exists an undocumented option in Sc32lnch (the tool which really does all the job) that allows you to run anything you want through SocksCap without having sockscap running and from the console or Start->Run:
Quote:
Sc32lnch.exe -c "command"

for example:
Quote:
Sc32lnch.exe -c "nc www.google.com 80 -v -v"
Sc32lnch.exe -c "c:\gslist.exe -I 1.2.3.4 1234"

it uses the default setup of Sockscap (the socks server specified there) and as already said is not needed to have Sockscap running.

Hope it helps.

Perfect, that worked. Maybe the problem is just the proxy servers im using... its the FP program, it sends querys to three ports, sets the version, and it even gets so far as the first player (Player: ..) and then closes. It tried to display an error, but it closed too abruptly.

any ideas?

depends by the protocol used by the program.
for example Tor doesn't support UDP and is possible that the socks server you are using doesn't support UDP too

search for socks5 servers on a search engine.
this type of servers sometimes allows udp proxying too

for throughness the following are all the options supported by Sc32lnch.exe:

-c "command to execute with arguments"
-S NAME (shared file mapping Sc32Shared.NAME)
-w "current directory to set"

definitely not useful...
