proxymini has been written to be the most easy to use proxy server in the world, so your question was a bit strange 8-)

Anyway it's enough to double-click of proxymini.exe and it's active and running and ready to use.
For testing it set the proxy (HTTP/Connect/SOCKS4/SOCKS5) 127.0.0.1 and port 8123 in your program (like your browser) and it's done.

if you are looking for good proxy then dont use this.
get TOR (vidalia bundle).
http://vidalia-project.net/download.php

currently latest : http://vidalia-project.net/dist/vidalia ... 0.0.16.exe

once TOR is running it runs in the 127.0.0.1 (localhost) 9050
you can get proxysel for firefox and add new proxy (127.0.0.1:9050) so one simple click in firefox will enable TOR (ofcourse it has to run)

proxymini and Tor are two completely different things with two completely different purposes

proxymini is a proxy server which supports the following protocols: HTTP, HTTP/CONNECT, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 (both tcp and udp).

it's useful when for example you have two computers and only one of them is connected to internet, so you launch proxymini on this one and the other can reach internet after having set the main computer as proxy server in the various programs which he uses.

when you double click on proxymini.exe it will starts with its default configuration which allows anyone to connect on port 8123 and using it as a socks proxy.
The other parameters/options must be set at command-line, before launching it.

ok who do i set the proxy up using the command lines and if i wanted to connect to a proxy server like if i was playing a game and i don't want anyone to know my ip cause i'm very paranoid about hackers, do i just use internet explorer and connect to one like that? and if i have another computer on my network or if i want to use a friends computer as a proxy how do i do that?

playing a game through a proxy is really a madness, proxies are too slow moreover considering that games use UDP packets.
Then in games only the server knows your IP address, the games which use p2p protocol are not so diffused (like some directplay games).

lmao dude... you think that server admin is gonna hack you ? i really think that theres only few ppl who can hack you thru firewall anyways (unless you dont leave ''door'' open)

indeed..proxys r very slow if it comes to playing. you can download something on 100-500kb/s, but playing a game. ..naaah. well i did play ''last chaos'' with proxy and didn't lag, but yet again its not some shooter where you need very low ping.

as i said luigi .. it seems he wants proxy. next time start from it. i dont judge ppl by what they want to do ...so here's how you can play ANY game thru a proxy. wanna find out the hard way, then im not stopping you :)

1. get Vidalia bundle (TOR) - http://vidalia-project.net/download.php
2. get ProxyFirewall - http://uniqueinternetservices.com/proxy ... nload.html (not sure if its right site)
3. Run vidalia (make sure it says that TOR is running in the main window)
4. open proxyfirewall
5. click on ''open proxies'' tab
6. click on ''add proxies'' button
7. type in 127.0.0.1 port 9050
8. choose SOCKS4 below
9. click ok

now you are ready ! once you launch application that wants to use net, proxyfirewall will give you a pop-up. choose whatever you want to do.
on your case...use proxy. then browse to open proxies and choose the 127.0.0.1:9050 and click ok.

now your application will run thru proxy server.

If you ask me .. then i think that proxy servers are way more dangerous than games. for example i can setup a fake proxy (still working) .. and if person uses it to log into his/her account .. i will get the details (this is y i NEVER use proxys to log into my accounts).
so in other words...somebody can even hijack your cd-key/serial if you use proxy. TOR should be safe...so i really think that theres no such proxys in the TOR network..but u may never know..

lol, well i'm only sometimes worried about being hacked cause i'm extremely paranoid when my computers slows down just from simple programs. although i have no need for a proxy right now since my internet suxs too much and i have wireless i realy just want to know how to use the proxy if i wanted or needed to, T.T i have 2 gigs of ram and a new vcard but not a good internet to do anything with it. hopefully soon i will get a wired connection.(btw i play ut2004 but lately my ping goes to 100 to 999 to 5000 and i don't know why.)

actually i do think sometimes a server admin on ut2004 would hack me if they knew how and couldn't get caught cause i pissed them off soooooooo much. cause i always complain about there admin abuses, like when they get owned they "claim" that person is a bot. or if someone complains about admin abuse they get banned.

well your pc gets slow prolly cuz you have too many ''crap'' in it.
like all those USELESS services..etc. i assume you use windows xp or vista.
both r totally fucked up and useless when default. mine is custom win xp. first i used nLite on it and then added several tweaks. so installed windows takes only 700mb (instead of 4gb default). its also 10 times faster.

about proxy, if u follow this guide it will work just fine. ofcourse it will still lag. proxy servers are slow.

LOL i totally agree...if admins get owned in their own server they start accusing you in cheating, hacking or just say its bot. ..about getting cought. TRUST ME, when i say that nobody gives a shit about that. if they would hack some .gov site then its different story. even if you hack into paypal ... all they can do is take the money back.
just get firewall and disable your NetBIOS and you should be quite safe in games.

About Windows optimizations, using just Seconfig XP, SafeXP, Xp-antispy, the immortal TweakUI (aka Powertoys) and the drastic setting to Manual or Disable of all the useless Windows services (just 3 or 4 are those useful) it's enough for having a clean system in some minutes... in case someone is interested 8-)

I dont even get it .. y microsoft made windows like that ?! ..why the hell it installs some JUNK that normal user will prolly never use ... they should have made OPTION for all that (like nLite allows you to choose)
..oh well i guess they dont think about customers at all .. they just say they do so :)
here's also some old guide i wrote on how to make windows lil bit faster by disabling some stuff etc.. -Click here-

no, proxymini is not designed to run as service, although it starts initially then it's terminated by the service handler after some seconds.

exist some programs to run normal executables as windows services but seems that none of them is free or open source.

I runned this proxymini on a friend's computer, I connected to it, then when i tested my ip on whatismyipaddress.com, appeared throughout my ip...

Am I wrong somewhere, or this is normal on this program ?

I thought it should show my friend's ip since this is a proxy server installed on his computer and i connected through it.

if you appear with your IP address means that you are not passing through the proxy.
so check if you configured correctly the usage of the proxy in your browser.
for example if you have firefox select "Tools->Options->Advanced->Network->Settings->Manual proxy configuration", put the IP of your friend's computer in the "SOCKS Host" field (proxymini supports also all the others but socks is better) and 8123 in the port, select socks4 or socks5 and now you are proxified.

@aluigi: you were right. I did some mistakes in there therefore it showed my ip.
But now, i've tested on more computers and it doesn't work. I mean I've runned it on several computers and then tried to connect to the internet, but without success. While my browser is trying to load the page, i type netstat in cmd window and it appears just SYN_SENT (near that IP).
Which could be the problem ?

maybe you can't phisically reach the other PCs on which you are running proxymini because they are behind nat, router or firewall.

with gcc/mingw you should have no problems, use just the following on Windows:
Code:
gcc -o proxymini proxymini.c -lws2_32
and use "make" or add -lpthread on linux:
Code:
gcc -o proxymini proxymini.c -lpthread
I guess it should compile also with VC++
