Is there a way to get unbanned on some servers who ban you by IP. I know they can change there IP depending if there static or dynamic, but what about using SOCKS Proxies. I know of the program SocksCap or something like that, but where can you obtain suchs proxies that work with games such as Quake 3 etc. Thanks

If you are using DSL, you may be able to change your WAN IP by resetting the modem. For Cable, I don't think it changes when you reset the modem, but I know I can spoof the mac address on my m0n0wall box for the WAN port that connects to my modem, and I am assigned a different IP right away via DHCP :P. However, all this may differ depending upon how your ISP operates.

But it may be tougher if the server banned your entire subnet (doubtful, but possible).

I don't know a whole lot about proxies, but I don't think you would be able to find any free proxies that would supply you with enough constant bandwidth to run an online game. When I have used http proxies in the past I could barely get to websites they were that slow. But then again I don't know a whole lot about that so I couldn't say for sure how it would work. But theoretically if you could proxy your connection to the game server, and get enough bandwidth, it should work.

another note which could be useful, some games or engines (just a few) have native ways to use socks proxies too.
For example the games based on the Quake 3 engine use the following cvars:

seta net_socksEnabled "1"
seta net_socksServer "1.2.3.4"
seta net_socksPort "1080"
seta net_socksUsername ""
seta net_socksPassword ""
